Dr. Wang built up the BioElectronics & NanoSystems (BENS) Lab in 2010. Since then, he has mentored 3 PhDs, and 21 Masters. As a believer in hard working and creative thinking, he has published >50 journal papers, >30 conference proceedings, 13 patents, and 4 book chapters in 10 years. His enthusiasm lies in the innovative applications of semiconductors, and he is also the founder of 2 startups focusing on heavy-metal monitoring and rapid detection platforms using BioFETs.

Yu-Shan (Annie) Huang, PhD

Expertise: Protein Biosensors; Neurogenerative Disease; Proteomics; Biomarkers Discovery
Prior to joining BENS Group, Dr. Huang received the M.S. degree in biomedical science from CGU, and the Ph.D. degree in molecular medicine from NTHU. Her research interest focuses on the development of antibody-antigen biosensing platform using BioFETs. She owns an expertise in neuroscience and proteomics and has brought multidisciplinary perspectives to the group. She inspects the detection efficiency and sensitivity from a biomedical point-of-view, moving BioFETs toward the monitoring of extracellular vesicles and a diagnostics of Parkinson's disease (PD).

Akhil K. Paulose

Expertise: BioFETs for cellular monitoring and RNA/DNA detection
Akhil is a 3rd-year PhD student working under the supervision of Professor Yu-Lin Wang. Cell-based biosensors can quantitatively detect information relating to their physiological changes, into electrical and optical output. His research focuses on cell based biosensors for the real time monitoring of cellular changes. He has worked on various project including RNA/DNA based biosensors and he successfully developed a biosensor array for the rapid detection of COVID-19 viral RNA in human saliva

Chun-Ta Lee

Expertise: Computational Thermodynamics; Phase Transformation
Chun-Ta joined BENS Group in 2020. His research focuses on environmental monitoring for heavy metal detections using FETs. Due to the environmental concerns of food/water safety, he is designing a sample-to-answer platform that can be implemented in the field benefitting the communities, restaurants, factories, etc.
Jung-Chuan (Edison) Kuo

Jung-Chuan is a 2nd-year master student majoring in nanoengineering and microsystems. Prior to joining NTHU, he received the B.S. degree in engineering science from NCKU. His research focuses on the development of a portable detection platform using heavy-metal-based FETs. The goal is to detect the heavy metal ion in water as the FETs provide an excellent detection limit and enable real-time monitoring to ensure the safety of public drinking.
Chia-Che (Daniel) Wu

Daniel’s research focuses on the newborn diseases − Biliary Atresia (BA). Without a timely treatment, this disease will lead a child to suffering in cholestasis and progressive hepatic failure, finally causing a death. Daniel's goal is to develop a platform that can use MMP7, a novel biomarker, to perform an early diagnosis for BA. In collaboration with NTUH, the clinical samples of serum will be tested with BioFETs soon.
Chia-Lin (Eileen) Chiu
Power Mechanical Engineering

Expertise: Industrial Design; Mechanical Modelling; Prototyping
Eileen is a 1st-year master student majoring in power mechanical engineering. She received the B.S. degree in industrial engineering and management from NKUST. Eileen’s strengths originate from her mechanical perspective, she is an experienced designer/developer skilled at AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, and CNC. Her research goal is to develop a cost-effective device to address an increased demand for COVID-19 rapid testing.
Tzu-Han (Hebe) Kuo

Tzu-Han is a 1st-year master student with an sharp insight into nanotechnology and solid-state physics. She received the B.S. degree in Physics from NKNU. Currently, her research focuses on measuring Hg(II) ion concentration using high electron mobility transistors (HEMTs).
